Over the past year, I have been limiting my spending. I know, what does that even mean compared to how much was I spending? Well, let’s say I was in a hole of credit card debt for the longest and I have finally made my way out of it. I made strict goals in the beginning of the year limiting myself to only 5 purchases per year, yeah that was defeated I think within the first two weeks. Anyways, since then I have been able to adjust my desire and temptations and have worked my way towards a much more refined shopping adventure. I have learned that I desire the freedom of going and searching, with no real reason besides the thrill and anticipation of what I could find. I never need anything, just want. With this discovery I have been able to clearly distinguish between my wants and needs whilst deciding to never buy for my future self. The fictional future Monyca that would use whatever product I am staring at with such conviction that it would be a waste of an experience if I didn’t buy! Then 5 months’ time pasts and I either have only used it a handful of times or it truly was never meant for me. Either way, I only buy what is meant for me in this present moment. This has allowed me to gain a better understanding of what I like and don’t like and appreciate the items I bought. There’s something admirable about an item being used until it cannot be used no more. Featuring my favorite items, most used this year: Supreme Navy Crew Neck Knitted Sweater, Uniqlo Black Cotton Culottes, Chanel Burgundy Fabric Printed Seasonal Flapbag and Maison Margiela Aubergine Tabi Flats.
